    • Awards: NoneAppropriate Grade Level: 1st-4th grade Summary: This story is about a girl who gets lice for the first time. She is typically a very clean and organized girl and takes it as a huge shock that she got lice. Ellie goes home and cleans everything with her mother as well as takes it upon herself to write her class little notes that read "these things happen."Review: It is important to read this book to children to teach them about taking care of themselves. They need to be aware of what [...]

    • This is the cutest book about lice ever written (not that it has much competition on that front!) A very informative and relatable story about head lice and the emotional (and physical) effects wrought by a child's first lice experience. While I never got lice in third grade, if I had, this book would have been perfect. I highly recommend it to any parent whose child is suffering and asking about the whos, whats and whys of lice (and even to adults who are experiencing it for the first time!)

    • I keep this in my office and it would be great to use when working with a student who may be scared, embarassed or nervous about having lice. Unfortunately it's very much geared toward young girls so I probably wouldn't use this with a male student.

    • I like that the main character is prissy and particular, intentionally fighting the stereotype that only dirty people get bugs in their hair. My favorite part of this book is the little letter/pamphlet the main character writes for the next kid who gets head lice. Cute story! :)

    • This is the cutest picture book! After you finish, you remember the story, not the lice. Well done!

    • Subject:Lice -- Juvenile fiction. This book would be better for an older child; I actually like this book better, Bugs in my hair! / David Shannon.

    • This story is about a little girl who gets lice for the first time, even though she typically has very good personal hygiene. She is very confused as to why this happens to her and her mother explains that "sometimes these things happen." I gave this book a 3 star because it is very informative about what happens when you get head lice, and reminds children to try and stay clean.
